Fairbridge Farm School Bursary

The Fairbridge Alumni created these bursaries to help those students registering in vocational schools and colleges who could use some assistance with the finances.

Started in 1988, the bursary program is a registered society and has registered charitable status through the federal government. The fund is lodged with the Vancouver Foundation. Ours is one of almost 1,600 endowment funds in the Foundation, all created by individuals, families, charities, corporations and government.

Each year, the Foundation gives the society the interest from the fund and this interest makes the bursary awards. We have made many bursary awards over the years, helping young men and women pursue their education.

Fairbridge Farm School members have continued to make donations to the fund. We are proud of our members, proud of their achievements from their beginnings as child migrants, and we hope the name Fairbridge Farm School will live on through our bursaries.

As your partner in philanthropy, Vancouver Foundation appreciates your continued confidence in us to administer your fund.

Founding members: Jean Conlon, Phillip Field, Jane Fownes, Keith Hamblett, John Hardy Thomas Speed, Richard Speed, Brian Tibbles.
